    History:
    Quincy, Massachusetts is a city rich in history. Settlers started moving in Quincy in 1625 and it was separated from Braintree in 1792. In 1888, It was incorporated as a city and was named after Colonel John Quincy. It is home to two Presidents, John Adams, the second President of The United States, and his son John Quincy Adams who was the sixth President. This is why Quincy is also referred to as the "City of Presidents". The first railroad in America was built in Quincy and was used to haul the granite to Charlestown during the construction of The Bunker Hill Monument. Although Quincy Point began as a fishing village it later became a very active ship yard during World War II with many ships built and repaired there. In fact, the USS Salem was built in Quincy. The shipyard now has a museum open to the public.

    Tourism:
    Quincy has 27 miles of shoreline with beaches and marinas. Wollaston Beach is the largest in the city and is home to the Eastern Nazarene College, which moved onto the old Quincy Mansion School property. The city of Quincy has placed a stone marker designating Wollaston, Quincy as the original site of the first Howard Johnson's. Today, Wollaston beach is frequented for its clam restaurants. On the other side, Quincy's Marina Bay has become Boston's premier waterfront entertainment destination with its Nantucket-style boardwalk, charming boutiques, superb restaurants and breathtaking views of the Boston skyline. Quincy is also a popular destination for golfing, fishing, rock climbing, hiking and recently, mountain biking. In all, Quincy is a family-oriented city with many baseball, football and soccer fields throughout the city, plus basketball and tennis courts and skateboard parks.

    • Quincy was also home to Actresses Ruth Gordon and Lee Remick. In fact the Ruth Gordon Amphitheater was built to honor Ruth Gordon and hosts many concerts during the spring and summer months.
    • Both Howard Johnson's and Dunkin Donuts were born in Quincy.
    • John Adams and John Quincy Adams are buried in the crypt at the United First Parish Church in Quincy.
