History:
Vero Beach was originally named the City of Vero in 1919 when it was officially incorporated. It was then reincorporated under the name city of Vero Beach when, in 1925, it was transferred to Indian River County from St Lucie County.

The glorious beaches of Vero Beach are the city's major claim to fame. Most of them are guarded and have many facilities, such as boardwalks, sports facilities and areas to barbeque.
The Indian River Lagoon, which is part of the Intracoastal Waterway, offers all forms of boating, water sports and fishing. Vero Beach also many marinas of note. Vero Beach has nine private golf clubs and the United States' seventh largest bridge club.
