History:
Settlers of what is today known as Everett inhabited the area where the Snohomish River and Port Gardner Bay meet since the early 1860s. The town of Everett, however, was not officially incorporated until 1893, the same year that the Great Northern Railroad reached the town. Colgate Hoyt, Henry Hewitt and Charles Colby founded the Everett Land Company to build up the young city, which would later be named after Colby's son. Everett was selected to be the site for a U.S. Navy Homeport in 1984. The West Coast's second largest port, Port of Everett Marin, puts Everett on the map as a major commercial fishing port and shipping city. Naval Station Everett, the U.S. Navy's most modern facility, is located nearby and serves as the homeport of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Everett is also the home of one of Boeing's assembly plant. The plant's 116.5 million cubic feet make it, by volume, the largest building in the world.

The median income for a household in the city is approximately $40,000 and the median income for a family is approximately $46,000.
