The city of Bellevue is the fifth largest city in Washington State. But that is not all, with a gleaming high-rise skyline overlooking pristine Lake Washington and with magnificent mountain ranges acting as a dramatic back drop, Bellevue has to have one of the most handsome profiles of any city on Earth. You will be well pleased with your decision to move to this fast-track place, but you would be well advised to connect with our moving experts before finalizing your plans. Those moving to Bellevue will quickly discover a new place to call home.

History:
Although founded in 1869, Bellevue was only incorporated in 1953. Prior to 1940 it had been a typical rural backwater because transportation was a problem, but the building of the Lake Washington Floating Bridge changed all that and the quiet town suddenly sprang into life, albeit as a bedroom community for Seattle. Then in 1963 the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge was commissioned and Bellevue began growing into a modern City in its own right. With improved access it started attracting a significant business community, and then came the Bellevue Square Shopping Center which was one of the biggest in the region at the time of opening in 1946. Bellevue continued to expand after World War II and right through to the 1980s. Today, the city continues to grow through the Bel-Red Corridor project (a joint effort with neighboring Redmond) aimed at redeveloping a large portion of the areas to the north.

Economy:
Capitalizing on its close proximity to neighboring Redmond, home of Microsoft, and with direct access to Seattle through two main highways, Bellevue has attracted many small and larger businesses many from the high-tech Information Technology sector. Add several thriving commercial districts and three main shopping centers (all in addition to Bellevue Square) and the future for this dynamic modern city looks very positive indeed. Visit the city of Bellevue official website for more detailed information on latest developments.

Tourism:
Overlooking Lake Washington to the west and Lake Sammamish to the east the City of Bellevue is a thriving metropolis just a short drive from downtown Seattle. It has many attractions and plenty of events to entice the visitor and the local residents too. The Meydenbauer Convention Center (named after the City's founder) is a world-class Fine Arts facility with regular concerts from the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra. Take time out to visit the Bellevue Arts Museum as well, which has impressive displays of contemporary art of significant importance for both regional and national interests. There is also a fascinating museum dedicated to Doll Art including an extensive collection of dolls. You will find plenty of green space in Bellevue which has close to 100 public parks with an array of facilities and amenities. Add nature trails and you can take in all the astonishing natural beauty of Washington State for yourself.
