There's a consensus between new people moving to Oxnard and those who are just visiting this side of California that this is a special town for those who want various avenues of having fun and relaxing. In Oxnard, there are farms, markets, but also beaches and quiet harbors. There are also national parks such as the Channel Islands National Park where you can ascend a boat to watch whales, seals, dolphins and other sea life. We think life here is a little slower than the big city—and we like it. People moving in, and constantly giving business to Oxnard moving companies, would agree that life it better here. There are lighthouses, volcanic rock, sea caves and little beach towns that beckon to be explored and looked at. The small-town feel of this city with its regular farmers markets, parades and festivals make Oxnard a tight-knit place that we would love to call home.

Tourism:
There is so much to see and do in the Oxnard region of California. One of the main events of Oxnard is the California Strawberry Festival in mid-May every year. So, head down to the Oxnard Community College where you can see and hear live performances, watch through 300 arts and crafts projects, eat meals from 50 food booths as well as partake with your children, friends and family in gooey contests and delicious tastings Celebrate Oxnard's star crop as well as contribute to over 40 Southland charities. There are also 20 miles of coastline that is rarely full of people. The beaches here are huge with great looking sand making it a perfect place to lay and take in the sun.

Economy:
The economy of Oxnard was heavily driven by international trade, agriculture, defense and tourism. The Port of Hueneme is right in between Los Angeles and San Francisco, so goods can go in and out. The large employers of the Oxnard community are as follows: St John's Regional Medical Center, Oxnard Union High School District, Waterway Plastics, City of Oxnard, Haas Automation and Aluminum Precision. Other major companies that have a great economic effect on the City of Oxnard are Borla Performance, Boss Audio, Robins Auto Tops and Vivitar. Proctor & Gamble and Sysco also maintain branches in Oxnard.

History:
Oxnard, California has always been a town that has drawn people in. Its soil is moist and fertile; and, its beaches, dunes and wet lands are beautiful and convenient. The lands of Oxnard have been perfect for cultivating communities of people, starting off with the Chumash Native Americans. They lived in the area and built thatched houses and wooden canoes that they used to fish. Oxnard was discovered by the Europeans with Jose de Galcvez who was looking for land to cultivate. Ever since then, agriculture has been wildly successful. Oxnard was put on the map because of its barley, lima bean, beet and fruit stock. The Southern Pacific Railroad was built around the American Beet Sugar company in Chino, California founded by Henry Oxnard and his two brothers.

  • There are many Oxnard Festivals that take place each year. Amongst local favorites are the Celebration of the Whales Festival in March, the California Strawberry Festival in May and the Channel Islands Harbor Parade of Lights in December.
  • Notable residents who lived in Oxnard, California include: actor Charlie Chaplin, Sonny Bono and Cher, political activist Cesar Chavez and "Avatar" director James Cameron.
  • In August 2010, a $30 million Bugatti drove into the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California.
