History:
North Hollywood wasn't always a town bustling with starlets, celebrities and those looking for fame. North Hollywood was once just heaps of fertile soil. In 1869, Isaac Lankershim sought out to buy acres of land in the San Fernando Valley. He successfully bought about 59,500 acres and sought out to develop the land bringing commercial development, a post office, rail depot, school, blacksmith and workers to town. In 1910, North Hollywood saw the Bank of Lankershim rise, followed by a market, bakery, dry goods store and a drug store. That was the beginning of everything. Next other businesses including Carl Laemmle's Universal Film Manufacturing Company came to town, which became the first movie-making community.
