Troy, Michigan is located in the suburbs of Detroit. An important economic hub of the affluent Oakland County, Troy is visited by numerous people every day. The city is especially known for its shopping and parklands. There is so much that Troy has to offer to its residents! The schools are rated A+, there are affordable office spaces, peaceful and calm residential neighbourhoods, world class restaurants, and acres and acres of refreshing parkland. Troy is one of the top choices for people moving to Michigan.

Economy:
Troy has a large number of office centres at very affordable cost. Many companies prefer to have their financial and executive offices here. The city is home to a number of automotive corporations, financial companies, technology firms and trading centres. Being close to Detroit also has significant economic advantages. The resulting metropolis has a very diverse economy and so has a stable profile. This stability is very attractive to businessmen and investors and helps in further growth for the region. Troy itself is home to about 81,000 residents, has approximately 5,700 successful businesses and employs more than 120,000 people. Total retail space is more than seven million square feet, office space is estimated to be 18 million square feet and total manufacturing activity uses more than 20million square feet. The city is so stable that it has been given the rare AAA rating by evaluating agencies. The trust on the city's stability encourages people into moving to Troy.

History:
The town has had European settlers since the late 18th century. The first recorded land purchase dates back to 1819 when the Troy Township was plotted and put on public sale. A few years later a person called Johnson Niles bought about 160 acres of land and planned the Troy Corners Settlement. The land is now part of north-central Troy. Another Troy Township was established in 1827. These three initial communities grew fast and ultimately merged into one town. In 1955, Troy was officially incorporated as a city. This was mainly done to prevent surrounding cities from taking more land from the area. The nearby city of Detroit played an important role in establishing Troy as a prominent economic hub. As Troy was less populated than Detroit, many specialist consumer retail centres opened here. As a result, many of the Detroit's residents come to Troy for shopping. Troy has become a great combination of recreation, residence and work. This is the main marketing tool for moving companies in Troy.

Tourism:
Troy has an interesting history. The Troy Historical Museum is a very interesting site to visit. It is divided into sections. Each section tells the story of a specific era and smoothly takes you through Troy's timeline. About ten important historic structures are displayed in the Museum. Tourists are allowed to enter these structures and enjoy the historic decorations inside the structures. Among the buildings are a school from the 18th century, a general store, a blacksmith's shop, a church, a pastor's home and a log and mud structure. Other attractions in the city include the Lloyd A. Stage Nature Centre which covers 100 acres of land.

  • Troy is rated as the safest city in Michigan.
  • The city is ranked as the fourth most affordable city in the U.S.
