Jackson, Tennessee is located in the Madison County. The city welcomes its visitors and residents with facilities of a top city and hospitality of a well-knit village. History:
The first records of a populous European settlement in the area date back to the early 1800s. The original town was known as Alexandria and was incorporated in 1821. A year later, in 1822, the name of the city was changed to Jackson in honour of Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. The Madison County was founded the same year and Jackson was made the County Seat of Madison. Initially the main commercial activity in the city was because of the Railroad. Jackson was present at a Railroad Junction and so served both as a freight station for the surrounding region and also as a temporary stop for travelling passengers and freight.

Tourism:
The Cypress Grove Park is a popular attraction in the city. Jackson is also well-known for its history, unique shops, art galleries and famous southern style cuisine. Many people come here to relax and connect with culture. The Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum is also visited by hundreds of tourists every year. Shopping centres include the Old Hickory Mall, the Lynnwood Place Shopping Centre, the Hollywood Shopping Centre, the Bemis Square Shopping Centre and the Oak Hill Shopping Centre. There are also two golf courses to satisfy golf enthusiasts in the region. Jackson also celebrates the African Street Festival, the Casey Jones Village Old Time Music Festival, the Bluegrass Festival, the Rockabilly Festival and the West Tennessee State Fair. Visitors can stay at the Hampton Inn, the Courtyard, Jackson; Jameson Inn and the Comfort Inn, Jackson.
