History:
The city of Norcross is listed in the United States Register of Historic Places because of the preservation of its historical value and character. This special area of 112 acres is located in the downtown part of the city, between Lawrenceville Street and North and South Peachtree Streets.
The original occupants of Gwinnett County were the Cherokee and Creek Indians. During the 1812 War, settlers built two forts to protect themselves and the trail that ran between them eventually became Peachtree Road. The roads built later all bypassed Norcross in order to preserve its character and history. The city was officially incorporated in 1870.

As Norcross is listed in the United States Register of Historic Places, there are numerous beautifully restored and renovated buildings and walkways featuring street lighting from a 100 years ago to explore.
