Greensboro, North Carolina, the county seat of Guilford County, is in the north central section of the state, and has the third largest population in the state.

Greensboro is a city centered around finance, manufacturing, and distribution. Commonly manufactured products include automotives, electronics, telecommunications, and various food products, producing an economy that keeps growing -- and keeps local Greensboro movers busy.

History:
Greensboro was the location of the Battle of Guilford Court House during the Revolutionary War. The American troops lost the battle, but were able to delay the British troops to allow time for the rest of the army to recover. The city is named after General Nathanael Greene, who was the U.S. commander at the battle. Greensboro may be best known for its progressive equality stances and events. In the 1800's, the area served as a stop on the Underground Railroad to help free southern slaves. During 1960, some black college students staged a sit-in at a Woolworth's where they were denied service. They gained local and national support that eventually led to many places removing segregation policies. The Greensboro Massacre took place in 1979 when gunshots were fired between the Communist Workers Party and KKK and neo-Nazi groups. Five members of the CWP were killed during the event.

Tourism:
While tourism is not a huge part of the city's economy, Greensboro offers several destinations for visitors. Piedmont Triad International Airport is eight miles from the city. A luxury hotel in the city named O. Henry is named after the famous short story writer. Remnants still exist of various demonstrations and racially-related events that occurred in Greensboro over its history. The city is located between several major highways and is filled with many green trees and picturesque hills.
