Dover, Delaware, the state capital, is in the central part of the state on the St. James River, and has an economy focused around shipping, food-processing, manufacturing, and the military. Dover is serviced by New Castle County Airport which is located 36 miles from the city. There are no major professional sports teams of the city, but several collegiate teams are in the area. The Schwartz Center for the Arts hosts the Dover Symphony Orchestra and ballet. Historic sites of the city include the Old Presbyterian Church, which houses the state museum, the county courthouse, among several other historic homes. The Dover Downs is a major draw for visitors with several NASCAR races annually as well as a casino.
