Actress Kate Winslet renting out New York City apartment

August 17, 2012 - Celebrity news sites are buzzing that fans of actress Kate Winslet may be moving boxes into her Chelsea apartment if they can match the $30,000 per month rent. Her ex-husband, film director Sam Mendes, reportedly gave her the home for $2.15 million. Together, they purchased t back in 2004 for $4.995 million.

Winslet is best known for her star role in Titanic, but has also been in popular films including Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Revolutionary Road and Finding Neverland. While she has been nominated for multiple Oscar awards, her role in The Reader finally won her one in 2009. Mendes directed American Beauty, Jarhead, Road to Perdition and a number of other Oscar-nominated films.

The home has four bedrooms, five bathrooms and remarkable views of the New York skyline through oversized corner windows. Another notable feature of the home is the 1,700-square-foot outdoor terrace.

Sources speculate she wants to rent out the property because she still has yet to decide if she will live near friends in New York or family in the UK.
