Allentown is located in the eastern part of the Pennsylvania. It is the third largest city in the state, with only Philadelphia and Pittsburgh being larger. Allentown is a major city of manufacturing, finance, and government. Agriculture is common outside of the city. The city was once known predominantly for mining as well as iron and cement, but today products such as food, metal, leather, electronics, and chemicals are significant to Allentown's economy. History:
William Allen originally founded the town with the name of Northamptontown in 1762. In 1838, the name was changed to Allentown in commemoration of Allen. The Liberty Bell was hidden from the British in Allentown during the Revolutionary War. The Old Zion Reformed Church honors this event by featuring a full-size replica of the bell where it once was hidden.

Allentown is serviced by Lehigh Valley International Airport which is located five miles from the city. The city is home to various minor league and collegiate sports teams. Popular destinations of Allentown include an art museum and the Zion Reformed Church. Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom are located right outside Allentown; they are among the most popular theme parks in the country.
