Poultry, dairy products and cattle are also primary goods coming out of the Valley of Virginia. Coastal fisheries also produce large amounts of shellfish—oysters and crabs—that are sold for a profit. Natural minerals that are important to Virginia's economy are stone, cement, sand and gravel. Small businesses also do very well in the state of Virginia. In 2006 and 2007, Forbes Magazine recognized Virginia as the state with the best climate for business based of the local economic growth, business costs and quality of life. Another great sight can be found at the Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge in Woodbridge. Here, you can view the refuge built for bald eagles, great blue herons, and other birds from the two trails set up through the woods.

State Bird: The cardinal is the state bird.

State Tree: The American dogwood is the state tree, which is actually not really a flower at all but the blossom of the dogwood tree.

State Song: The state song is "Carry Me Back to Old Virginia."
