Actress Mariska Hargitay moving to Manhattan

August 9, 2012 - Fans of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit may be excited to hear actress Mariska Hargitay will be moving boxes into a large Upper West Side home in New York. While the townhouse was first listed for sale with an $11.495 million asking price, the television star paid just $10.7 million.

While Hargitay may be best known for her role as detective Olivia Benson on SVU, she has also starred in other television series including Downtown and ER. She was also in the horror flick Lake Placid and continues to guest star on a number of shows. She was the recipient of a Golden Globe award in 2005 for the best performance by an actress in a television series and also won an Emmy in 2006 for outstanding lead actress in a drama series.

Her success has likely helped cover the cost of moving services, as she and her family will probably need help moving into their oversized Manhattan home. Reports have yet to total the property's square footage, but the six bedrooms and nine bathrooms should be plenty of space for her three children and husband, actor Peter Hermann. Some notable features of the home include double terraces, tall ceilings and a gourmet kitchen.
