Description: Johnson Storage and Moving Co. of Colorado Springs became one of the first of its kind in the western United States. For more than 100 years, the Johnson family has been in the transportation business. Starting as a blacksmith and wagon building enterprise in 1897, our founder, William Johnson, opened service as a moving company in 1900.

We were one of the first regional transportation companies to retire its team of horses and to use motorized trucks. Johnson was one of the first Rocky Mountain "Furniture Warehousemen" to join the National Furniture Warehouse Association in the early 1920s, and the first to build a fireproof warehouse in Colorado. Unique among moving companies in America, Johnson was the first to be a founding agent of two major van lines: one in 1928, and United Van Lines, as an agent-owned van line in 1947.

The firm is now owned and operated by fourth generation family members. From its founding site at 221 Broadway in Denver, the company has expanded over the past 10 decades to multiple locations spanning 5 states, including Security Van Lines of New Orleans and our small packaging and shipping division, "The Box Shop". We are now one of the leading moving and relocation service companies in America.
