Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Michigan became the 26th state on Jan 26th, 1837. Michigan is also known as the "Great Lakes States" due to the fact than it borders four of the five great lakes including Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Lake Erie. Michigan is also known as the Wolverine state because in years gone by people believed that people from Michigan were bloodthirsty creatures.

Origin of state's name: The name Michigan comes from an old Indian work meaning "Great Water".

Population: The population of Michigan is in excess of 9.9 million people based on the last census of 2000.

Cattle and dairy production as well as corn and some soybeans help drive the economy. The state is also well known for its heavy machinery production and of course automobile production as well as chemical products and food processing.

State Bird:The state bird is the Turdus Migratorius or American robin that is also the state bird of Connecticut and Wisconsin.

State Flower: The state flower is the Apple Blossom or Pyrus Coronaria which is noted for its beautiful fragrant flower. Michigan is on of the top apple producing states is the US.

State Song: The state song is "Michigan, My Michigan" by Miessner and Malloch.and the song is full of praise for beautiful state.
