Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Moving to Georgia

Georgia became the fourth state in the US on Jan 2nd, 1788. Georgia is commonly known as the Peach state due to the large number of peaches grown in the state.

Origin of state's name: Georgia was named after King George II of England.

Capital City: Atlanta is the capital city of Georgian and the state is surrounded by Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and the Atlantic Ocean.

Population: The state has just over 8 million residents based on the last census in 2000.

Economy

The economy is driven by agriculture including peanuts, pecans, fruit and vegetables, cattle, dairy, poultry and eggs.  The main industries are food processing, tourism, textile manufacturing and electrical equipment manufacture.

Arguably the most famous is James (Jimmy) E. Carter U.S. president is from Plains. Ray Charles the great singer is from Albany and Lawrence Fishburne III, the well known actor is from Augusta. Of course Hulk Hogan the professional wrestler and bigger than life personality is from Augusta and Stacy Keach the actor is from Savannah.

Gladys Knight the wonderful singer is from Atlanta and Jackie Robinson the well known baseball player is from Cairo. Joanne Woodward the actress who is married to Palo Newman is from Thomasville.
