Description: For more than 100 Years, The Johnson Family has been in the transportation business. Starting as a blacksmith and wagon building enterprise in 1897, our founder, William Johnson, opened service as a moving company in 1900. Johnson Storage and Moving Co., became one of the first of its kind in the western United States. Many other firsts were to follow.
We were one of the first regional transportation companies to retire its team of horses and to use motorized trucks. Johnson was one of the first Rocky Mountain "Furniture Warehousemen" to join the National Furniture Warehouse Association in the early 1920's, and the first to build a fireproof warehouse in Colorado. Unique among moving companies in America, Johnson was the first to be a founding agent of two major van lines: One in 1928, and United Van Lines, as an agent-owned van line in 1947.
