Irving, Texas is part of the greater metropolitan area of Dallas. Within the city limits of Irving is Las Colinas, which is a very affluent master-planned community that was developed in 1972. The Schulze family gave the home to the city of Irving in 1975 to allow residents and visitors to tour the home, still furnished with antiques from the family.

History:
Irving, Texas was founded by Otis Brown and J.O."Otto" Schulze in 1903. It officially became a city on April 14, 1914. Irving's first mayor was one of its founders – Otis Brown. In the 1930s Irving saw a significant increase in the city's population. As a result, Irving got mass transit in the form of city buses during the same decade. The growing city began to attract more and more businesses to Irving. By the 1950s Irving had its own city government.
