This natural spring area was initially populated by several Native American tribes. Jolliet and Father Marquette discovered the area in the year1673 and declared it a colony of France. Settlers arrived in this area around 1807. This city’s name was derived from the renowned thermal water 47 springs that are present in the city. Hot Springs, Arkansas is Garland County’s county seat. This was founded in 1873, on April 5th.
