Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta, Georgia is quickly becoming one of the top cities to move to in the United States, a fact that keeps local Atlanta movers busy. Located in the northwest of Georgia, it's one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the southern United States, and it is currently the fastest growing population in the nation. The city is one of the south's leading commercial centers and is shifting towards having a major international influence. With major companies headquartered in the city, and more and more businesses moving here, it is an excellent place to live.

Economy:
Atlanta is a major hub of commerce and manufacturing. The most commonly manufactured products include textiles, food, paper, steel, chemicals, and telecommunications. Additionally, the city is home to many vehicle production plants, as well as publishing and insurance companies. The city is also a major center for television production. Coca-Cola has been headquartered in Atlanta since 1892. The site used for the recent Summer Olympics is now used as a major convention center.

Atlanta can be reached via the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is one of the busiest anywhere. History:
Atlanta was originally home to Creek and Cherokee Indians, before they were forced to relocate to the Midwest. The city was named Atlanta in 1845 and incorporated two years later in 1847. The city was a main target of the Union Army during the Civil War. In 1864, General Sherman reached the city and destroyed most of what was left of it. Atlanta was rebuilt after the war and became the major center of commerce and industry that it is today. US Army Soldiers remained in Atlanta until 1888 to assure the city was conforming to Reconstruction mandates. Clark Atlanta University, a black school, was setup soon after. The city was promoted as a new south city that diversified away from slavery and agriculture. Race riots broke out in the city in 1906 and 1915 as social tensions increased in the city. The city was hit hard during the Great Depression and the federal government set up the first housing projects in Atlanta. During World War II, Fort McPherson, became a major center for military training. In 1946, the Center for Disease Control was started in Atlanta. The city was a major place for the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s although no major escalations ever brought out and the city was described as being "too busy to hate." Atlanta hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics where a bombing killed two people and injured many more.
