Description: Mollerup Van & Storage was founded in 1891 by Andrew Mollerup, a Danish immigrant. He started the business with a one-horse drawn wagon/moving van. Prior to the wide spread use of telephones in Salt Lake City, Utah, the local movers would line up along what is now West Temple Street in downtown Salt Lake City. Prospective customers would select the mover of their choice based upon the appearance of the mover and his horse and wagon. The going rate at the time was $8.00 per day.
The company has been owned and operated by the Mollerup family for four continuous generations: commencing with Andrew Mollerup, then continuing with his son Joseph Mollerup, and then his son Marvin J. Mollerup, and finally to his son, M. James Mollerup the current owner. Mollerup Van & Storage is the oldest continuously family-owned and operated moving company in the state of Utah.
Mollerup has grown over the years from patiently waiting in line on West Temple Street to aggressively marketing its relocation capabilities via its national and international affiliation with Atlas Van Lines. Currently Mollerup has three warehouses totaling 56,000 square feet of storage space, plus a complete fleet of modern rolling stock from pack trucks, bobtails and flatbeds to the state-of–the-art in air-ride furniture and electronics moving vans.
Mollerup’s reputation and expertise over the past 115 years, along with its fully trained customer-oriented employees, modern communications system, in-house and field computerized data processing equipment and on-line communications with Atlas Van Lines, will provide every aspect necessary to successfully meet the relocation and storage needs and expectations of every customer.
Mollerup is proud of its heritage and pleased to be affiliated with the Atlas Van Lines agency family. |
