The state capital of Ohio, Columbus is nicknamed, “The Arch City.” This is due to the dozens of metal arches that lined High Street during the 20th century. These arches were torn down in 1914, but were reconstructed for historical purposes in 2002.
Columbus has a diverse economy, ranking in the top 10 overall in the United States. Government jobs provide the largest single source of employment within Columbus, as Columbus is the state capitol. With approximately 100,000 college students in the Columbus, there is a large array of arts and cultural offerings.
